Subject: Plane Owned By Hendrick Motorsports Crashes

A Beech 200 owned by Hendrick Motorsports crashed at approximately 12:30PM Sunday Oct 24, 2004.  The Hendrick Motorsports drivers Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, Terry Labonte & Brian Vickers were not notified of the crash until after the Martinsville race (which was won by Jimmie Johnson) was over.  NASCAR canceled the normal Victory Lane festivities and all post race coverage out of respect for ten people aboard who where killed.
 
The lives lost where those of Rick Hendrick's (owner of Hendrick Motorsports) son Ricky Hendrick age 24, Rick Hendrick's brother John Hendrick age 52 (president of Hendrick Motorsports) and John's twin daughters Kimberly and Jennifer, Jeff Turner (General Manager of Hendrick Motorsports), Randy Dorton (the team's Chief engine builder),  Joe Jackson (a Dupont executive) Scott Latham (Tony Stewart's helicopter pilot) and the planes pilots Dick Tracey and Liz Morrison.
